The Ultimate Color Picker

The Ultimate Color Picker

A color picker

That's what I needed. To be more precise, I needed one that allowed me to work efficiently. I tried nearly every color picker out there, but each one came up short.

What I wanted was a color picker that lets you quickly pick a color from your screen, edit the color, then instantly copy it to any format needed. All of them were cumbersome and took too many clicks.

So I decided to build my own.

The Process

I wrote ColorSlurp using Swift and Xcode. The interface was designed using Adobe XD. I custom designed every icon in Affinity Designer.

ColorSlurp has two major parts; the main window, where you save and edit colors, and the magnifier, which you use to pick colors from the screen.

The magnifier has adjustable size and zoom and can be moved with the arrow keys. Holding shift enables precision mode, which slows the magnifier's speed. Once you pick a color, you can instantly choose a format to copy to. These features let you pick colors blazingly fast.
